What is the Roma Platform?
The Roma Platform is a project implemented since 2016 by the Department of National Minorities under the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, funded by the European Commission. The full title of the project is “Lithuanian Roma platform – going local.”
Project goals:
- To strengthen cooperation with municipalities;
- To empower the Roma community, especially youth and women;
- To combat negative stereotypes and discrimination.
In pursuit of these goals, we:
- Employ Roma mediators;
- Provide legal consultations;
- Organize training sessions, camps, and self-help groups;
- Exchange experiences with other countries.

Roma in Lithuania
We invite you to get closer to the Roma people – their past and present; their history and culture, which
help us understand the way of life and values of this community. After all, to understand means to
accept.
Genocide
Learn more about the “forgotten genocide” – the tragedy of the Roma community during World War II
– and help preserve the memory of this painful chapter in our history.

Library
In the library, you will find books and Roma inclusion plans. They may not answer all the questions
you have about this community, but they can serve as a starting point to help you better understand
the Roma people and their spirit.
